Hey y’all,
We’re Pam and Sara, a mother-daughter duo who began blogging together in 2014.
Starting out as Southern food bloggers at Biscuits & Burlap, we realized that many of our recipes were inspired by dishes we had and loved in restaurants here on the Coast of Georgia. She crab soup, southern fried shrimp and even bacon wrapped green beans are among the coastal dishes which found their way onto our blog because we loved them here first.
That’s why we’re now spreading our wings to share with you not just the food, but everything else there is to know and love about our favorite little part of the South – Coastal Georgia.
Pam (Mama, to some of us) was born just across the state line in Jacksonville, Florida, and began life making day trips to this area with her family. Her Daddy was a lover of new places and adventures and he passed that love along to Pam and her brother.
Fast forward to early adulthood, and she married Buddy, who was born in Brunswick, Georgia, and whose roots ran as deeply as hers. Their two sons and daughter (Sara, the other author on this blog) were raised up visiting St. Simons, Brunswick, Jekyll Island and even the Okefenokee Swamp.
Eventually Pam and Buddy bought a second home on St. Simons Island and secured their spot here among the live oak trees, historical sites, the marshes and beaches. It would later become their main home and the home base for children and grandchildren to gather together on their trips to the coast.
With years of experience under our belts, we have built a foundation of knowledge that we can’t wait to share with you.
Having 2 generations blogging on the same site means you get a mix of information based on both of our interests.
Pam can tell you where to play a round of golf, grab a glass of wine for happy hour, and the best places to stay.
Sara knows where all the fun dive bars are, all the tips for a fabulous day at the beach, and where to find the small town festivals that are the heartbeat of this seaside string of islands, towns and its one large-ish city, Savannah.
Between the two of us, we’ll make sure your trip to Coastal Georgia is exactly what you want it to be.
We’re excited to branch off into another, but intertwined, direction that drives our mission. That mission? Bringing and keeping people together, whether it’s through food, drinks or a shared love of a beautiful view, a new place or a grand adventure.
We invite you to join us as we continue Discovering Coastal Georgia and share it with the world.
