Dog-Friendly Restaurants on Jekyll Island

Jekyll Island is generally a welcoming place for your pets. A large percentage of the area’s delicious restaurants have outdoor seating areas, and virtually all of them are dog friendly. Below you’ll find a list with brief descriptions. The island is small, and you’ll find all of the restaurants to be convenient.

  • The Wharf – Casual dining at the Jekyll Club Resort, there is a large deck with live music most Thursday through Saturday nights.
  • Tortuga Jack’s – Baja Mexican cuisine under a tiki hut beachfront. Your “best friend” gets unlimited water bowl refills.
  • Zachry’s Riverhouse – Casual eatery on the river side of Jekyll with marina views. Seafood and typical pub grub. They ask that your pup stay on the ground.
  • Wee Pub Beach – The island outpost has another location in nearby Brunswick. Check here for the full lineup of Great Restaurants in Brunswick. Wee Pub is an Irish Pub with a coastal twist and your four-legged friend is invited to join you on the patio.
  • Love Shack BBQ Yardbird & Shrimp – A casual spot located inside the Jekyll Market. You furry friend is not allowed in the market but there are tables outside where they can join you to eat.
  • Boardwalk Deli – Sandwiches, soups and salads are what you’ll find here. This spot is also in the Market where your furry pals aren’t allowed, but if someone else grabs the food you can sit at a table outside to eat.
  • Red Bug Motors Pizza – You’ll also find a good variety of Italian dishes here. Your fur baby can join you at one of the outside tables.
  • Fuse Jekyll Island – This is where you’ll come for sweet, frozen treats like yogurt and gelato. There are 3 tables outside dedicated to being pet friendly. Fuse also has a location on nearby St. Simons Island.

Check here for full lineup of St. Simons Island Restaurants you need to try.

Pet Friendly Things to Do at Jekyll Island

You’ll find an array of activities to do with your dog on Jekyll Island, but here are our favorite pet-friendly activities.

Visit one of the beautiful beaches

Your dog is welcome on any of the Jekyll Island Beaches as long as they are on a leash less than 16 feet long. The rules are a bit more strict on neighboring St. Simons (where dogs are allowed off-lease from Labor Day to Memorial Day as well as early mornings and evenings in the summer) but you can get all of the details about East Beach, Gould’s Inlet, and Massengale Park on the St. Simons Island Beach Guide.

In addition to the wide beaches with smooth sand Jekyll Island is home to the hauntingly stunning Driftwood Beach. Most people love taking their pups here, but do be careful to watch for sharp oyster shells clinging to the driftwood and rocks.

Many of the dog-friendly beaches are equipped with picnic pavilions, and you are welcome to take your four-legged friends to places like the South Dunes picnic area or the St. Andrews picnic area.

You can learn about all the beaches on Jekyll Island like Corsair Beach Park, Great Dunes Beach Park, and Glory Beach as well as other nearby sandy shores on our article about beaches near Brunswick, GA.

Insider Tip: Be sure to check out the Jekyll Island Tide Chart before you pick a beach, since some beaches are only accessible at low tide.

Dolphin Tour Cruise

You will need to call ahead, but if they can make room for your furry friend on the boat they will. You’ll be gone about an hour and a half and you and your dog will have a great time.

Walk or bike the amazing trails
