You’ll need to do your own price checks for the exact time you’ll be visiting.

Budget-friendly Saint Simons accommodations
Queens Court Inn
If a nostalgic location in the heart of the Pier Village is what you’re after this is your place! This mid-century motel has been lovingly restored and is locally owned and operated.
You’ll be just a short walk to the beautiful St. Simons Lighthouse, the fishing pier and numerous restaurants, bars and shops. More here of the Top 12 Things to Do on St. Simons Island.
The rooms are small, but clean and furnished with the basics. There is a swimming pool in this very convenient location. As of the date of this writing the reviews are overall very positive.
Hampton Inn St. Simons Island
If you’re using or accruing Hilton Honors points, we think this is your best bet. A friendly, accommodating staff makes this location stand out, though the rooms and hotel in general are standard Hampton Inn design and quality.
Hampton Inn is known for its complimentary breakfast, and this one is no exception. There is a pool, too!
Insider Tip: Out the back of the parking lot is a short path that leads directly into Redfern Village. There, you’ll find a variety of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and retail, including some of our favorites. Be sure to check out 20 St. Simons Island Restaurants You Need to Try.
We’ve stayed here many times over the years, up until very recently. It’s reliable Hampton Inn comfort.
Epworth by the Sea
Epworth often does not come up when searching for a place to stay on St. Simons, but we can recommend it. It is a conference center owned by the United Methodist Church, but anyone is welcome to stay there. They have a wide variety of budget-friendly lodging options.
Best of all, the Epworth campus is located on 83 picturesque acres along the Frederica River. The buildings are nestled in between old live oak trees with Spanish Moss hanging from the branches. This setting is like a fairytale.
Weddings are often held in the historic and beautiful Lovely Lane Chapel, and there are Sunday church services there as well.

Food service is cafeteria style and is limited to times when groups are staying at Epworth, but that is very often. At any rate, you are always a 5-10 minute drive (or bike ride) away from all the options you could ask for.
Our very favorite building at Epworth for accommodations is Turner Lodge. It is set right on the Frederica River, with most rooms having a view of the river. The furnishings are basic but adequate and clean. This is a million-dollar view at budget prices!
There are several other buildings to choose from as well. They range from small, motel-style rooms to enlarged apartments.

Insider tip: The grounds of Epworth are our favorite place on the island to take in a sunset. Whether you stay there or not, try to catch at least one during your visit.
Holiday Inn Express
Standard accommodations. If you’re an IHG regular, this is your place. It’s about 1-2 miles from the Pier Village, but there are a couple of spots to eat within walking distance across the main thoroughfare (Demere Road). There is a pool and the hotel offers a free breakfast.
Mid price range accommodations on Saint Simons Island
This is the largest group of places to stay. Naturally, you can often find a hotel or resort running a special and can get the pricing in the budget-friendly range. Likewise, during high season, holidays, or when large events are taking place, the prices for mid-range may fall into what many consider luxury rates.
You will need to always check the rates for your desired dates.
The Inn at Sea Island
Actually located on St. Simons but owned by the Sea Island group, this hotel is a great find! You’ll find a top notch friendly staff and very nice accommodations and amenities, including the Top Golf Swing Suites located in the bar area.
The entire location has the feel of luxury without the price tag. It’s a bit out of the way at about 4 miles from the Pier Village, but you’ll have easy access to plenty of restaurants and shopping close by, as it sits right off the main road (Frederica) on the island. A couple of our favorites are even within walking distance. The full list of the 20 Best St. Simons Island Restaurants is found here.
Popular with golf groups, you can book a golf package along with the hotel rooms and get access to the famed Sea Island Golf Club. Overall, we think this is a great place and an excellent value!
Insider Tip: Ask about the complimentary bicycles. They’re on a first-come, first-served basis. If you arrive early you can grab a bike (subject to availability) and explore the island while your room is readied.
Village Inn & Pub

We love the Village Inn! To start with, the location is perfect. In the heart of Saint Simons Island’s Pier Village, you are just a short walk to restaurants, shops, bicycle rentals, coffee shops, bars, parks, the lighthouse, and of course, the fishing pier.
The Spanish-style architecture is nestled beautifully within the old live oak trees, and the gravel parking and walkways are the inn’s way of helping to keep those old oaks healthy.
Officially an inn or hotel, it has the feel of a bed and breakfast. The rooms have exterior access, but when you go in, you’ll think you’re in a guest room in someone’s home. Most rooms are on the small side but tastefully decorated and with thoughtful amenities like top-quality linens. A few rooms look out on the swimming pool.
The pub is English style cozy, and we especially love going for a glass of wine or a hot toddy when the fire in the fireplace is roaring in the winter. Many evenings, you’ll find live music or trivia. Here’s where you’ll find more on The Best Bars on St. Simons Island.
The pub is where a complimentary continental breakfast is served each morning. Check here for a wide selection of breakfast options on St. Simons.
This is a spot the locals love but it is also perfect for an affordable romantic getaway.
Hotel Simone

The newest hotel on the island, Hotel Simone calls themselves the “place where coastal chic meets laid back living“. It’s small, having just 25 suites and a guests-only lobby lounge. We would classify this as a boutique hotel.
The location is very near the larger and well-known King & Prince resort, and guests here will have privileges to use the King & Prince amenities as well.
Complimentary beach chairs, umbrella use, and bicycles are special perks for guests of Hotel Simone.
There is a small rooftop deck with a pool, and the location is within a short walk of several restaurants and shops as well as the King & Prince and two parks with access to the best beaches on the island.
Sea Palms Resort
Located mid-island, Sea Palms is the only resort with one of the championship golf courses on-site. The rooms and suites have been recently renovated and recent reviews are quite good. Many of the resorts’ rooms have views of the salt marshes.
There is a restaurant with a large dining room and bar as well as pools (including one heated outdoor pool) and tennis courts available to guests. Most Friday evenings in warmer weather there is live music or a dj on the pool deck. During the winter there is usually some form of musical entertainment in the dining room/bar area on Friday evening.
Sea Palms hosts wedding groups, conferences and golf groups. This is the closest hotel to several of the island’s historic sites, like Fort Frederica National Monument and Christ Church (both included in the list of Things to Do on St. Simons).
Home2 Suites by Hilton
This is the only other option if you’re using or accumulating Hilton Honors points besides the Hampton Inn. A fairly new concept by Hilton, these suites offer plenty of space with a comfortable work area plus kitchens with full-sized refrigerators, toasters, microwaves, and induction burners on request. There is an outdoor swimming pool.
Home2 Suites is located at the small McKinnon airport. It’s a good option if you need to be on the island for a while on business or if you prefer to do some of your own cooking but in a hotel-type environment.
Ocean Inn & Suites
This small hotel is right in the heart of the pier village. Some of the rooms even have balconies that look out at the historic lighthouse and the St. Simons Sound beyond.
There is an outdoor pool and free parking, which is covered. Recent reviews are good.
If nightlife is your thing, this is a great location. It’s an easy walk to several pubs and bars with a variety of vibes. You’re sure to make some new friends and have a great time. For a complete rundown, you’ll want to check out 14 Best Bars on St. Simons Island.
Luxury accommodations on St. Simons Island
The Lodge at Sea Island
Though the name says “at Sea Island,” The Lodge is actually located on St. Simons Island but is a part of the Sea Island Resort group.

It sits at the end of the famous “Avenue of the Oaks” and is a luxurious haven nestled along the picturesque coastline. This distinctive top-rated hotel seamlessly blends Southern charm with unparalleled accommodations, amenities, and service, offering a welcoming retreat for the discerning traveler.
The Lodge is small, having only 43 rooms and 7 cottages, and it’s secluded. Surrounded by 3 well-known Sea Island golf courses, it’s a golfer’s dream come true, but offers an exceptional selection of activities for the non-golfer as well. Tennis, pickleball, swimming, kayaking, hunting, and shooting are just the beginning of the list. An experience you’ll always remember is the bagpiper on the lawn at sunset.
Just strolling the grounds is an experience in itself. From the Avenue of the Oaks to the shores of St. Simons Sound you will find historic ruins along the way. Retreat Hospital was built over 150 years ago with the local building material called tabby. You will find a marker with more details on the hospital’s history.

Guests at The Lodge have full access to all of the resort amenities of the Sea Island resort.
Insider Tip: Even if you don’t stay at The Lodge, you can drive into the “Avenue of the Oaks” as far as the Lodge gate. It’s a sight that you should not leave St. Simons without seeing, and is a photographer’s dream. Pull your car off the road and walk down the center of the “avenue.” It is absolutely breathtaking!
The Cloister
The Cloister is actually located on Sea Island, but a short causeway connects it to St. Simons. The entire island is private, and you will need confirmed reservations to gain access. This is the flagship Forbes 5-star luxury hotel of the Sea Island Resort, and understated luxury is waiting around every corner. Sea Island has miles of beautiful beaches on the Atlantic Ocean.
There is a variety of room types, including one, two, and three-bedroom suites, some with ocean or river views. Dining, service, and amenities are what you would expect from a luxury resort. Besides golf, swimming, kayaking, and bicycling, you will have access to all of the other activities Sea Island offers, including a world-class spa and fitness center, plus an equestrian facility, boating, and much more.
A weekly game of bingo is a long-standing tradition for families staying at The Cloister. If your budget allows for it, this is the family vacation to beat all family vacations!

The King & Prince Beach & Golf Resort

The King & Prince straddles the line between mid-range and luxury. We personally have great memories here as two members of our family celebrated their weddings at the King & Prince. It’s the closest hotel to the most beautiful beaches on the island, at East Beach.
There is a wide variety of accommodations, including villas, rooms, suites, and full residences.
The dining at Echo is St. Simon’s only oceanfront option and is a favorite of ours for happy hour with a view as well as a great southern style breakfast. There is also the Cottage Custard + Coffee, which is a fun little shop with a fire pit and playground right outside.
The golf course is located off-property on the north end of the island, and there is a clubhouse with a restaurant and bar on site. The views from the golf course are spectacular! Transportation to the golf course can be arranged with advanced notice.

Amenities include three outdoor swimming pools (including one heated pool), a hot tub, seasonal kids’ activities, and tennis courts.
Bed & Breakfast on St. Simons Island
The Grey Owl Inn
This is the only true Bed & Breakfast on the island. As is typical with a bed and breakfast, the rooms are all different, each having its own personality and, of course, its own name.
There are a variety of options for breakfast, and it’s served at 9 am each day.
We had the pleasure of touring the gardens of the Grey Owl Inn as a part of the Cassina Garden Club’s tour in the spring of 2023, and it was a highlight of the tour! Just look at this adorable playhouse on the grounds.

Private vacation rentals on St. Simons Island
This is the option many visitors to the island choose. There is an enormous variety of vacation homes available. You can find everything from a room in a private home to an expansive estate that will accommodate several families.

This newly built home is less than a mile to the Pier Village as well as the beach. Every detail has been thought of in this 5 bedroom, 5 bath home with a private pool.
If a beachfront location is important to you, renting a condomium is the best option other than the King & Prince Beach & Golf Resort.
The Sea Gate Inn will come under this category though many visitors think of it as a hotel. It is actually a building of individually owned condiminiums, many of which are very nicely appointed.
St. Simons Grand is another option, with all of the units being either 3 or 4 bedrooms. The amenities are excellent, including a heated pool, private boardwalk to the beach, and a gated entrance.
The Beach Club is in the same area and has 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units available for rent. There is an oceanfront pool and tennis court as well as a children’s pool and hot tubs.
VRBO has an amazing collection of other available homes and you can browse through those here or check the map below!
