Your Guide to Happy Hour on St. Simons Island

Brogen’s South

Brogen’s is one of our favorite spots in the pier village, and if you’ve ever been to St. Simons Island before, you’ve probably grabbed a drink there, stood on the 2nd floor of their patio and watched the ships come by, or listened to live music on the outdoor stage.

Here’s what happy hour looks like at Brogen’s:

• Monday-Friday 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
• $3 Domestic Bottled Beer
• $4 Well drinks
• $5 Margaritas on the rocks and house wine

King City Kitchen

This is a new spot in the pier village and it’s the closest you can get to the water on this part of St. Simons. We are huge fans of the food here, but their happy hour specials are something else!

• Thursday – Saturday 2:30 pm -5:00 pm

They have live music all day on Saturdays starting at 12:00, too!

Rafter’s

This spot, also in the pier village, is one of my favorites for seeing live music and playing a game of darts or pool. Check out their happy hour situation:

• Monday – Friday 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
• $3 beers
• $4 well liquor
• Check out their social media for events during happy hour, too, like paint & sip nights and dart leagues!

Village Inn & Pub

Village Inn & Pub is one of our family’s favorite places to grab a drink in the village, which is why it’s on our list of the best bars on St. Simons Island. It’s also one of the best places to stay on St. Simons!

Here’s what happy hour looks like at the pub:

• Daily 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm (summer hours)
• During mid-fall, this changes to 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on weekdays!

Porch

If you haven’t checked out this place, run! Their Nashville Hot Chicken is out of this world and the porch and front yard are the best places to hang out with a cold one. Here’s why you should be grabbing happy hour at Porch:

• Daily 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm
• $5 draft beers and $6 frosés
• $6 frosés all day on Fridays!

The Nest

This fairly new spot in the pier village has some of the best food in town, and their happy hours are nothing to turn your nose up at either! Here’s the details about The Nest’s “flocktail hour”:

• Daily 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm
• $6 house wines, $6 weels drinks and $4 Yuenglings
• $6 apps that change frequently, but include goodies like roti with curry, seared tuna, bao buns, and loaded yucca fries.

Georgia Sea Grill

This is not only one of the best restaurants on SSI (and the one we nearly always pick for a special occasion), but their “first call” happy hour specials are also awesome!

• Daily from 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm
• $3 domestic bottled beer, $4 well drinks and house wine
• $6 appetizers including my favorites, fried pimento cheese with Tabasco syrup and crab-stuffed hushpuppies!

Mellow Mushroom

You might not think of visiting a chain restaurant on vacation, but this Mellow Mushroom is awesome! We absolutely love the back porch under the live oak trees, and their happy hour specials just might start earlier than anywhere else – cheers!

• Daily 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
• $1 off drafts, sangrias, and specialty drinks
• $5 bruschetta and small cheese pizzas

Live Oak Tavern

Located on Demere Rd near the St. Simons airport, Live Oak Tavern is a new favorite. Here’s what you can expect at happy hour:

• Daily 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
• All beer, house wine, and well liquor is $1 off
• FREE popcorn

The Inn at Sea Island

This little oasis in the heart of St. Simons Island is not only one of the best places to stay on St. Simons – The Inn at Sea Island also has a great bar! Here’s what happy hour looks like on this SSI extension of the luxurious Sea Island:

• Daily 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm
• ALL drinks are half off
• Billy – Yes, the bartender Billy is enough of a treat that you should come see him at happy hour just because!

Barrier Island Brewing Company

St. Simons Island’s best brewery (ok, maybe it’s the only brewery) isn’t just about beer – the food and cocktails here are amazing, too!

• Daily 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm
• $2 off all pints and flights
• 1/2 off all house wine
• 1/2 of half-orders of their delicious brussel sprouts and chip skillets!

Gnat’s Landing

Here’s another happy hour for those who like to get started early on vacation – Gnat’s Landing in Redfern Village! They’re already one of the best bars on St. Simons Island, so of course they have great happy hour specials, too:

• Monday – Friday 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
• $3 Miller Lite & Coors Light draft
• $1 off all bottled beer
• $3 house wines
• $4 and $5 shot specials!

Bubba Garcia’s

Why not a happy hour hop around Redfern Village? Start with a drink at Gnat’s and then head right across the street to Bubba Garcia’s! Not only is it our favorite place to grab a taco on the island, but their happy hour deals are amazing:

• Monday – Friday 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
• $3 house wines and Coors Light draft
• $1 off all bottled beer
• $4 and $5 shot specials
• Discounts on tons of menu favorites like the dip trio and their most popular tacos

Wolf Island Oyster Co.

Another stop in Refern is a great one. Be sure to ask for their “Raw Bar Menu” while enjoying your happy hour specials. A favorite of ours is the smoked fish dip. It is outstanding!

Wolf Island Oyster Company’s happy hour specials are every day except Saturday, 3:00 – 6:00 pm.

Sago (at Sea Palms)

Happy hour at the bar/restaurant of the Sea Palms resort is another early one, beginning daily at 3pm. Enjoy a drink after your round of golf or just pop in anytime.

• $1 off draft beers
• $4 domestic beers
• $7 house wines
• $8 cocktails with well liquors

Catch 228

This is where you can most often find us for happy hour! The laid-back sport bar atmosphere is perfect for grabbing a casual drink before you get your evening started!

• Monday-Friday 4:00 – 6:00 pm
• $1 off beer and wine
• $1.25 house oysters – the best deal in town on oysters!

Mr. Shucks Seafood

Mr. Shucks may be new to St. Simons Island, but us locals have been going to their Brunswick location for years! Here’s what happy hour looks like at Shucks:

• Monday – Thursday 4:00 – 6:30 pm
• $6 lemon drops, margaritas, sangrias, and house wines
• $7 well alcohol
• $2 off domestic beer
• $7.50 1/2 lb HH shrimp and fried green tomatoes
• $4 shrimp cocktail

Golden Isles Olive Oil

This spot at the roundabout near the airport is so unique! Not only will you find an awesome market with a huge selection of flavored olive oils and vinegars, but they also have a full service restaurant and bar! Here’s what you can expect at happy hour:

• Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
• $4 bottled beer
• $5 draft beer
• $6 wine
• $10 martinis

MAS Lounge (Ember)

Connected to the well known Wood-fire inspired restaurant you’ll find a fun little spot – MAS. Happy hour food specials run from 5-6pm and include interesting snacks like oven-fired Brie and Cajun style boiled peanuts.

As of this writing the drink specials are available until 6:30 and are a good deal – $4 house wines, $3.50 well drinks and $2 draft beers.
