Coastal Georgia may be known for it’s seafood and comforting southern cuisine, but sometime you just need a burger! That’s why we made this guide to the best burger in Savannah.
Now, everyone’s opinion on what makes a great burger is different. Some of us want a classic burger with ketchup, mayo, and a traditional burger bun. Some of us want that burger loaded up with spices and creative ingredients on a fancy brioche bun.
No matter what your Savannah burger style is, these are the best burgers in Savannah picked by the locals, so you’re sure to find what you’re looking for here.
Be sure to check out the map at the bottom of the post so you can see how far the best places for a burger are from you. Don’t miss the ones off the beaten path, though! That’s often where you’ll find the best local restaurants.
Over Yonder
This tiny dive bar not be what you expect, but it is full of character and the food is incredible. Known as the best place for a late night burger and fries in Savannah, Over Yonder is a small space with Texas vibes, pool tables, and live country bands that take you far away from Savannah.
Don’t miss the hand cut french fries which can be ordered with bacon aioli and cowboy ranch or loaded up with nacho toppings like queso, pico de gallo, and jalapenos.
The burger at Over Yonder is a favorite amongst the locals, stacked two patties high on a toasted potato bun and piled with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and burger sauce.
The Corner Grill
This spot on Whitemarsh Island is known for having a good classic burger. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but don’t let that deter you! This is the perfect place to stop on your way to or from the beach at Tybee Island.
The burger here can be ordered basic or piled high with funky ingredients. My favorite thing to order here is the black and blue burger, messy as it is (totally worth it), and the border burger is out of this world.
When you visit The Corner Grill, be sure to get the fries or the onion rings with house made BBQ sauce or get your fries topped with feta cheese for something different. And if burgers aren’t your thing, the gyros are solid as well.
Two Tides Crispi
Not only is Two Tides Brewing company known as one of the best breweries in Savannah, but the tasty items at their food truck, Crispi is incredible! Grab your food from the window and take it upstairs to the brewery to enjoy with your beer.
The smash burgers here are considered the best in the Savannah area. They have perfect crispy edges and the burger sauce, the pickles, and the thinly shaved onions are all on point!

Green Truck Neighborhood Pub
This local favorite on Habersham St. is a great spot to grab a solid burger. You can go with the Green Truck Classic if you like, but I love to go crazy with the Trailer Park (pimento cheese and bacon), Rustico (goat cheese, balsamic caramelized onions, and basil), or The Whole Farm which includes bacon, cheddar, and a fried egg. You really can’t go wrong here- even the veggie burgers get rave reviews!
They make their own ketchup here at Green Truck Pub which can be a bit, well, polarizing. The locals are split into two camps- those who say they could literally bathe in the delicious housemade ketchup, and those who recommend bringing your own bottle of Heinz. I’ll let you be the judge.
Ben’s Neighborhood Grill & Tap
Ben’s is known for the great service and, of course, delicious burgers. I’m a huge fan of the Southern Burger Special with bacon jam. It is out of this world! They also get super creative with delicious bites like the peach chutney and goat cheese burger.
You can get your fries in a variety of styles too, from sweet potato waffle fries to parmesan truffle fries. And don’t forget those beer-battered onion rings!
If you have non burger eaters in your group, give “The Codfather” a try- it’s a British style fried fish sandwich that can’t be beat.
Uncle June’s
This spot in the Starland Yard is one of the newest places where you can grab one of the best burgers in Savannah. They might be the new kids in town, but they are pros when it comes to grilling a burger. The burgers here are juicy and perfectly cooked every time and the burger sauce and homemade pickles are the perfect finishing touch.
Crystal Beer Parlor
This spot located in an old grocery store on W Jones St is known for not only being a fantastic “no frills” burger place, but also for, you guessed it, the beer. They have a huge beer selection here, and this is a great place to try all those local brews from the best Savannah breweries.
The Big Bleu Burger here is absolutely divine with a horseradish cream sauce and the Mountain Jam Burger has a smoked gouda beer cheese made with local beer (served on a pretzel bun, of course). You could also go for the classic burger or the smash burger, which are both simply delicious burger options.
Honorable Mentions
Though opinions are varied, these restaurants consistently show up on other “best burgers in Savannah” lists, so we’d be remiss not to mention them on ours:
- Betty Bombers on Bull St.
- Sly’s Sliders and Fries on Abercorn Street
- B&D Burgers on W Congress St, E Broughton St, and Abercorn St.
- Lizzy’s Burger Bar & Grill on E River St
