If you’ve ever been to Savannah, you know this is true: There is a tour group on every corner. That’s because Savannah tours are the best way to learn about the city! There’s a tour for everyone, whether you’re into history, Southern food, spooky tales, or are just here for a good time.
You can find all the best Savannah tours on Viator, but it can be a little overwhelming to choose the one that’s right for you. That’s why we’ve rounded up our top 8 tours that we always recommend.

Savannah Tours for Everyone
There are only 2 tours that I say everyone visiting Savannah absolutely must do at least once: The Savannah Hop on Hop off Trolley and a Savannah Riverboat Cruise.
Savannah Hop on Hop off Trolley

This is my top tour recommendation in Savannah because it’s so dang convenient! Not only do you get a full narrated tour of all the hotspots of Savannah’s historic district, but because it’s hop-on-hop-off, you can also use it as your transportation throughout the day!
The stops are all conveniently located so you’ll have a chance to explore the Juliette Gordon Low house (also known as the Wayne-Gordon House), Forsyth Park, Franklin Square, Madison Square, City Market, River Street, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, and so much more!
Insider Tip: If you don’t do the Hop on Hop off Trolley Tour, I highly recommend you read this post about the DOT Shuttle Savannah – Downtown’s Free Bus. While Savannah is extremely walkable, this free bus will save your life (and your feet)!
There’s nothing more quintessentially Savannah than a riverboat cruise. I love the 2-hour version with dinner, but there are other options like a shorter 90-minute cruise and the Sunday Brunch Riverboat Cruise.
Either way, if you’re going to Savannah for the first time, you simply must hop on one of the famous riverboats!
Savannah Tours for Foodies
If you’re not native to the South, you’re going to want to learn about the food. We have a whole article on the must-try dishes of Coastal Georgia, but this tour will check off a few of those boxes:
Savannah First Squares Culinary & Cultural Walking Tour
This unique tour is all about the sights and flavors of Savannah. Because it’s a small group tour, there’s plenty of time to ask questions and get personal with your guide.
The tour takes about 3 hours and includes visits to 6 local eateries that are favorites among the locals. You’ll also see the highlights of the historic district, including Ellis Square, City Market, River Street, Franklin Square, Johnson Square, and the historic First African Baptist Church.
Insider Tip: You can find other Savannah food tours here!
Savannah Ghost Tours
You may or may not know that Savannah is known as America’s most haunted city — and these tour guides really know how to bring the spooky past to life!
Savannah History and Haunts Candlelit Ghost Walking Tour
This is my absolute favorite ghost tour in Savannah. It’s more personal than the trolley ghost tour, and the lantern held by the tour guide really adds to the spooky atmosphere.
Every guide tells different stories and takes you to different spots, so this is one tour you can do over and over — there’s so much haunted history to learn here in Savannah!
Insider Tip: If you really love the spooky side of Savannah, take it a step further and stay in one of the most haunted hotels in Savannah!
Tours for those here to party

Hey, we’re not judging — we’re not all here to learn about the history. Some of us are just here for a good time!
Haunted Savannah Booze and Boos Ghost Walking Tour
This is one of my favorite tours I’ve ever taken in Savannah. I did it with girlfriends during a Savannah bachelorette weekend, and we had a blast!
This tour combines the haunted history we love in Savannah with a bar crawl for an experience that is so uniquely Savannah!
Insider Tip: You won’t find any rooftop bars on this walking tour, but they’re one of my favorite things about Savannah. Be sure to check out our article on all the best Savannah rooftop bars!
Savannah Tours For History Lovers
Historic Savannah Guided Walking Tour
Savannah’s historic district is one of the largest National Historic Landmark Districts in the United States, so this city is a playground for history buffs!
This guided tour will take you past the most revered historic homes and buildings in town, as well as Forsyth Park, River Street, and more beautiful squares than you can count.
This is another tour that I consider a must-do. Bonaventure is an important part of Savannah’s history, but it’s a little difficult to navigate on your own (not to mention huge).
This golf cart tour is perfect for anyone who wants to see all the highlights of Savannah but wants to save their feet for exploring the rest of the town!
Savannah Tours for Explorers
If you have never been to this area before, we know what you’re thinking – I’m on the coast, but where is the beach? Well, Savannah doesn’t have its own beach, but there are quite a few great beaches near Savannah. One of them is Tybee Island!
You’re going to have to drive to get there, so if you’re without a car, you’re going to want to go on a tour that includes transportation. We have 3 favorite Savannah to Tybee tours, but this one is the most popular:
Savannah to Tybee with Dolphin Cruise

This excursion is such a great deal (and it often sells out!) because you get so much out of it — transportation from Savannah to Tybee Island, a dolphin cruise, a visit to the historic lighthouse and museum, and a stop at The Original Crab Shack (one of the best restaurants on Tybee Island)!
